I ♥ visitors.

"Emily, are you bored?", one of my visitors recently asked me while we were resting during a visit to a local chateau. "Of course not. I'm just tired", I replied. When I have friends in town, I get exhausted more easily because it takes me away from my daily routine. A daily routine of doing a whole lotta nothin'. Pathetic.

I do love touring them around our beautiful corner of the world. Seeing Annecy for the first time (again) through there eyes. "Wow, Annecy if beautiful", they may say. Yea, I suppose it is, but it'd be nice if this darn rain would stop. The joys of persuading them to buy French items like Longchamp bags or chocolates or macaroons from a local chocolaterie. Or introducing them to local cheeses and the cheesiness of fondue and raclette and tartiflette. Staring at the wonderful flavors and colors at our favorite ice cream stand. Watching their faces when enjoying a new food or seeing something beautiful. And the pleasure I receive (again and again) when sharing these experiences with friends.

July 4th weather in Annecy: snow in the high mountains. Didn't I hear that it was in the 100s somewhere in California? We're over here wearing sweaters and fleece.

Crazy weather for July, huh? I swear if it rains one more day I'm moving back to the States. ;)

It's all rain and wind here as well! Brrrrr. It's probably warmer in Melbourne's winter right now than summer over here!

Sick and TIRED of this weather. And in a bit of a mood slump myself.

Another American recently said to me, "Ever since I moved to France, so many people always want to come visit me, and it gets so tiring!" But unfortunately, I can't relate, because no one has come to visit me yet! Pathetic. Maybe one day. I'm trying to talk my brothers into it, but we'll see...

IT IS FREEZING. The Mont Joly is covered in snow. it's just a depressing view out the window these days. Hey, if your visitors want to do any hiking or small ski village in the summertime visiting, let me know!

I just got to experience Montpellier again, like it were the first time I saw it. Mlle SMITH vient d'arriver... we spent such a lovely time today. 5 hours flew by!

I'm sorry about your rainy weather. I hope it clears up soon.

Here, on the West Coast of Canada we are experiencing a mini heat wave. The first day or so was nice. Yeah summer's here, BBQs, evenings spent sitting on the deck reading, chatting etc. Now it's like, stop already it's too hot. And the only place we sit is the one room with airconditioning, and it's too hot to BBQ. Lot's of salad and water.

And we loved being shown the sights. Thank you so much for hosting us! I already miss the macaroons. :)

I get tuckered out when I have visitors too--that shift in routine is a killer. Sorry to hear about your non-summer summer up there, though--we were boiling a couple weeks ago here in southern Italy, but now it's just lovely. Need a vacation?
