What puts a smile on your face?

I'm talking about the little things. Like today, I bought a baguette that was fresh out of the oven. Like literally minutes out of the oven before it was in my hands. It was dee-licious and halfway gone by the time I walked in my apartment.

And for you?

On cnn.com today there is a video of a baby Polar Bear's first public viewing. It's so adorable!

Yesterday I drove the back way home from a meeting instead of taking the freeway. I had may favorite mix CD playing. The fields and orchards were all pretty and green, and I discovered that the strawberry stands have opened. :-)

mmmm... my mouth is watering just thinking about the baguette

Getting on the scale in the morning and seeing that the midnight pig-out didn't cause me to gain any weight. ;-)

Last night I finished a Lizard Ridge Block. That was happy enough, but I began another out of scrap yarn from the other blocks while I wait for more yarn. And I got through exactly six rows (when you're supposed to switch yarns) before I ran out of the first scrap section. That made me smile!
(Although warm bread is ALWAYS yummy and would put a smile on my face any time!)

Oh, warm fresh baguettes definitely do it for me!! That and salted butter -- yum! A really good red wine usually does it, but that's a no-no for me right now, so I have to replace it with a really nice glass of San Pellegrino! ;-)

A great song can do it, especially out of the blue; receiving a fabulous care package in the mail; receiving a new magazine one day early; and discovering a new book by one of my favorite authors, like Siri Hustvedt's latest The Sorrows of an American.

And that's just the shortlist! I could go on and on...

Oh, and did I mention my boy's smile? And the silly things he does to make me laugh? He's just silly without even trying.

And more recently, when I lay down at night and feel the baby moving -- when I put my hand on my belly and feel the Little Bean moving around. That makes me smile too!

I'm keeping a list of those kinds of things on my blog. I would gladly add a baguette to that list if I could. mmmmm
