A sad day for a Nalgene water bottle lover.

TH recently forwarded this article to me. It states that most Nalgene bottles are possibly harmful to our health. I've heard about this before, but was having a hard time believing it. What a sad day for someone who owns more than 10 of their bottles. I'll start weaning myself off of my dependence for drinking water out of my Nalgenes when I get over this sadness. Soon they'll be sitting on our kitchen shelf collecting dust/as decoration. I'm thinking about selling them on eBay, but isn't that like selling possible sickness to someone?

Have no fear blog readers, I've already found a replacement for my love for drinking water out of a container. With this:
There's nothing wrong with a 35 y.o. drinking out of a Hello Kitty water bottle, is there?!

A few years ago all these rumours went around that reusing plastic bottles was harmful because they released toxics after awhile or something like that. The rumours turned out to have been started by bottled water companies because people were just refilling their bottles with water from the tap. So, this may be the same thing..

i know i'm so bummed about it too, but supposedly nalgene is going to start making the bottles without the chemical. *tear*

Wow! How strange! You just commented on my Bellatrix socks (over on Ravelry) and so I discovered your blog and just yesterday I bought a Sigg waterbottle, too! Then today, I see one on your blog. I must post a picture.

Ta ta. I'm off to read your blog!

I am going to try to nail holes in the bottom of mine and use them as planters in the garden.
I think that selling them is indeed passing along the sickness.

That blows. I, too, like my nalgene bottle. Well, bugger. I suppose I have to stop chewing on it now.

I'm torn on this issue myself...but I love the hello kitty Sigg bottle, so perhaps I'll make the switch for fashion reasons!

Hey Em! OMG I hope you stopped using these bottles. We stopped using Naveen's baby bottles last year b/c of the BPA issue. I saw the SIGG bottle though...they have that Hello Kitty one and some other really cute patterns. Makes switching for you a little easier, I hope :)
