I voted. Did you?

Hooray for being able to vote from France. Please get out there an vote (if you live in a state that can today) for who you believe will be the most competent one to clean up this mess.

Today, I lead the English conversation class with the group of retirees. They asked me how the voting system works in the US. My answer was: "It's too complicated to explain." Believe me, I tried to explain it in English, but it didn't seem to be getting through. And there was no way for me to be able to explain it in French. How do you say "electoral"? OK. Forget that. I just looked it up and it's the same word.

Ohhhh!!! I want an I VOTED sticker sooo bad.. I have a long story about my voter reg. I actually called the office in San Diego several days ago only to find out that I was "de-activated!" They sent via email a document that I signed and scanned and emailed back to them and JUST today in the mail I received my absentee ballot.. YAYY!!! They didn't enclose a sticker, though!! BUMMMMER!! I will fax it to my dad in the US today... Take care and thanks for stopping by with your well wishes!! I will post as soon as I find out the results on the 11 avril.. Until then, I'm a stress basket!! Take care! Leesa

Yep, American voting systems are complicated! So is the French system I think! Good on you for voting, I can't believe people don't vote (but then I come from a country where it's compulsary. I would just never want to give away my right to a say in who runs the country).

I'm going after work today. Casting my votes still gives me a feeling of satisfaction, even if what/who I vote for doesn't win.

I did it online as soon as I got the email from Democrats Abroad. I love internet voting.

I also tried to explain the voting process to my seconde students today. Eh, I'm not sure what they understood, but the majority voted for Barack (in my fake primary vote I made them do...)

Voted! Three cheers for progress.
Actually, I wish our politics were a little more French these days, with your super model sass an all.

I voted! I sent in my ballot on Tuesday. It's going to be very exciting to see how everything turns out.

Yes, I think we are very lucky to be able to vote when living abroad, even indefinitely, and I wanted to be sure to take full advantage of it as well. I had planned on sending in my mailed absentee ballot for the general election in November, and I didn't think I was even eligible to vote in the primaries as I last lived and was registered in Washington, DC, but then I found out I could vote in the Global Primaries yesterday! I was so excited, especially since I was able to do it on-line. I sure hope my vote will "count" towards the final decision!

I wouldn't have any idea how to explain the actual voting system to the French either, especially since I find that it's even difficult for us as citizens to understand and get our heads around! It's a pretty complicated system, to be honest.
