Can't a girl get a break?

Just a quick update on more mileage disappointments for me. I flew with Aer Lingus on my way to the US this past trip. BTW, I'm not sure if this is an Irish thing or what, but as soon as the wheels of the plane hit the runway (we were not even close to parking that baby), most of the passengers were up and out of their seat, getting their bags from the overhead compartments, and starting to line up. The flight attendants were not happy about it and had to fight them all to sit back in their seats. I digress...

Aer Lingus is partners with American Airlines and sue me (only in the USA) for looking forward to possibly gaining more miles. I faxed in all my paperwork to American this week because as of today, all of my American miles were going to disappear thanks to their new miles retention policy. I called them to confirm that they received my paperwork. They did, but, unfortunately, due to the class of my ticket (here we go again), I will receive zero miles. Lovely. Have these airlines ever heard of customer satisfaction or even care?

This is just hard for TH and I to digest at the moment because we live thousands of miles away from family and under one salary thus a cheaper international flight or flight bought with miles is what we can do right now and the airlines are just making it more difficult.

I always, always, always fly Continental...whose partner is Air Frnace (another class act). I earn all the miles traveled regardless of class or price of ticket. After 2 intl. flights I earned "elite" status which allows me better seat choices, expedited security (which is the ONLY reason I caught a connection once) and priority boarding. After 5 intl. flights and 2 stateside I have earned enough miles to fly intl first class next time!

reminds of celluar phone companies and how they do the same (it's just not as expensive)

oh...customer service! Right! Forget it Emily, that's another era. I just went through a big rig-a-marole (sp?) getting miles transfered from hubby's miles to mine so I could get a "free" flight to LA to mom's 94th birthday. Finally, with help from a tech guy in Mumbai, I got it taken care of, almost, and got charged $45 in fees. So it goes. Good luck on finding future inexpensive flights home.
