Le Retour Des Alpages.

Once a year, Annecy celebrates the return of the Alpine animals from the mountains. Yesterday, the town was full of vendors selling local food, drink, art, etc. Darin and I started the celebration by sharing a bottle of freshly squeezed apple juice. Then we watched the parade of musicians, geese (they were adorable), sheep that were led by a dog, dancers, horses, goats, and cows. The most beautiful cows I'd ever seen. How can a cow be so beautiful, you ask? There was a certain type of cow that had these beautiful eyes and the coloring around their eyes made them look like they had on eyeshadow. No, I wasn't drinking while watching the parade. At the end, the streets were not only filled with people, but poop as well. And the smell? You can only imagine. It was pretty neat to see and I can't remember where I was last year and missed it. Stupid me forgot to bring the camera, but my friend, Penny, took a lot of photos so I'm going to link to her blog so you can see what a great festival it was.
