Quoi d'neuf?

What's life in France going to be like now that we have Sarko as prez? I shudder to think about it. Life will go on, of course, but I was really hoping for a woman prez. Did you know that the last female ruler of France was Joan of Arc? Like the Brady Bunch used to sing off key, "When it's time to change, you've got to rearrange." Let's see what progresses. I was never a fan of politics, but have recently become very interested in French politics. I suppose it's something to do or something to care about.

I had a wonderful DSL-less weekend. Friday, my friend and I swam a kilometer and a half and then celebrated with a nice fondue dinner at my fav "all things cheesy" restaurant. Saturday, I drove myself over to Sara's house. All went well with the drive until I was about 1 km away from her home and successfully got rear-ended in front of a roundabout. There were 3 cars involved. I was car #1. I approached the roundabout and started to slow down since there was a car already in it. Then I ended up stopping AND stalling (oops), but at the line before entering the roundabout. It wasn't a huge deal. Driver of car #2 broke a front light and left some of his paint job on our bumper. A souvenir, of course. We also have a few lovely dents in our license plate. I just found out that all French license plates will soon be replaced. Ah, good timing, right? Sunday, I started a new knitting project after buying some delicious Noro yarn in Geneva. I think I've poked my finger so many times with the knitting needles that I've permanently lost feeling.

So, Darin and I have a game we play where we like to remark on the things that we each excel at in comparison to the other one. I'd like to add something to my list. I'm really good at stalling the car. I don't want to brag or anything, but I see it as a talent.

Emily,
Glad you are not one to brag about your high-touch car skills! Love the knitting project. I am perusing yarns and patterns for my next new project. Fun idea, the caplets.

The driving gets easier. And the driver behind you shouldn't have been so close anyway.
