US Elections.

They're a HUGE deal here. It's been all over the news. And I'm still wondering why. So I didn't see the FABULOUS results (AKA Nancy P.) until tonight. Earlier today, I was having a discussion (in French!!) with a "frog" who just found out that I was from California. And then tells me that California has recently elected a new governor. So I respond, "Are you telling me...that they replaced...'The Governator'?" And then he looks at me with a puzzled look and says, "Oh...no. Schwartzy's still the governor." Curses!

Did you know that if you buy a TV in France, this wonderful government taxes you each year to own that TV? We recently received a lovely bill in the mail stating that we owe tax for having a TV. I asked Darin what was the purpose for this tax. He tells me that it goes towards funding France 2, France 3, and all the popular public TV channels. Who really needs the stations anyway? The tax is more than the cost of our TV. My mouth is still on the floor. I was talking about this with my tutor and her response is pretty much, "C'est la vie." It's craziness, I tell you!
