Let's go to the movies.

We've been on a movie kick recently. Here is a list of what we've seen in the past several weeks:

1. Before the Devil Knows You're Dead with Ethan Hawke and Philip Seymour Hoffman - very captivating movie. We really enjoyed it. EH finally gained some weight and made it more bearable to look at him. PSH was awesome as usual.
2. Horton Hears a Who! - so cute. A lot of fun to watch. I saw this in French and the "Whos" were called "Zoos".
3. The Savages with PSH and Laura Linney - incredibly good and incredibly depressing. I was having a great day until I saw this and then the rest of my day was ruined. You have to be in the right frame of mind.
4. 27 dresses - cliché city. A complete waste of time and money, imo. Let me save you the time and money. Don't. See. It. I think TH is still peeved at me for making him watch it.
5. Riding Giants - a documentary about the history of surfing in North America. Very interesting. Beautiful cinematography.
6. Steep - my husband's new favorite movie. A documentary about the history of steep skiing in North America and France, bien sûr. More great cinematography.
7. & 8. Half Nelson - after seeing Lars and the Real Girl, we've become fans of Ryan Gosling. Had to rent this movie and he was amazing in it. BTW, if you haven't yet seen "Lars and the Real Girl", see it!

Have you seen any of these flicks? If so, thoughts?

I saw the Devil Knows Before You're Dead. I thought it was alright, but just alright. I see your point about E.H and his former too skinny self! I think I could have done without that opening scene with that seymour hoffman guy naked...

A film which I saw around the same time is Cassandra's Dream, which I loved. For some reason I think there are similarities between the films but I can't put my finger on why exactly..

Hey Foof! I'm behind on reading your blog, but I'm doing it now so that counts right?

I just saw 27 Dresses like 3 weeks ago. I thought it was cute...but I went in not expecting anything.

Half Nelson - damn, talk about depressing. But yes, Gosling = good. I guess we'll rent Lars and the Real Girl.
