Aquagym class.

Last night, I went to an aquaerobics class with my French tutor. She goes each week so I decided to join her and to check it out. First of all, unisex bathrooms like they had in "Ally McBeal" exist in France. We were taking off our clothes (swimsuits were already on) in front of men who were coming out of the shower or jacuzzi or steam room in their suits. Luckily, there was a changing room...with a door...and a lock. One of the pools I go to has the same unisex bathroom situation. I find this odd. But that's not the best word to use. It's different. I'm still not used to it and I don't think I like it. But I must get used to it, right?

I was a bit nervous about going to the class and not being able to understand a thing the teacher said. So my tutor asks her if she speaks any English and could possibly translate things for me if I look lost. She said that she knows, "up, down, right, left". I said, "perfect". She told us that she learned these English words from watching "Dora the Explorer". In France, she speaks French and then some English words. Doesn't she speak English with Spanish words in the US? In the end, the class was fun. It was hard. And for the most part, I understood what the teacher said to us. And sometimes she said things in English for my benefit. And if she couldn't think of the words in English, the class would help her. That's what I call teamwork.

I take yoga in French. At first I had to keep a close eye on everyone else to keep with program, but eventually I picked up the new vocab."pliez vos genoux," "detendez votre visage," etc...

I've seen Dora here. C's four year old cousins are really into it. While the English parts are a good idea, they never have a clue what the hell they mean!

Took aquagym class when I was pregnant with my first child. Loved it! Only time I felt weightless during the whole pregnancy!

A few years ago I took a lifeguards course in Norwegian. Hilarious! I was always the last to finish the exercises because it took me longer than everyone else to understand what we'd been asked to do in the first place!

Yup, Dora speaks mainly English and some Spanish in the states. Here, she speaks French and some English. However, they apparently chose someone French to do the English speaking because she says things like "I deed eet" instead of "I did it." Haha.
