Knit Two, Purl Two.
I just completed my first knitting project. Voila. A scarf. It took me a few weeks, but I did it and am proud of this piece of warmth that shall now sit on our hat-glove-mittens shelf until the weather cools down again. I'd say I enjoyed about 85% of the whole process. Wasn't a huge fan of binding off in pattern and then threading in all the loose ends. But, I'm excited for my next project which includes me practicing increasing and decreasing. Now I have something that'll keep me busy while trying to sit still and watch French TV.
So the pattern didn't call for those few little holes to appear, but I feel they give the scarf some character. Actually, I've named them all after my husband: Darin 1, Darin 2, etc. Note to any new knitters in relationships: don't let your significant other talk to you while knitting your first project. Darin tells me that I'm the one who was talking to him. Nu uh.

woo hoo!! that looks great!
Thanks Sara. :)
What shall I do next?
hmmm, maybe a matching hat?
That turned out really cute!
Have you decided what you're going to do next yet?
The holes in my blanket (yes I know I haven't sent pictures yet) remind me that I'm the one that made it!!
How did you decide on pink?!?! Great job and you look so happy wearing it :)
Awesome!!! Any pointers if I wanted to start to make one myself?
Kimi - start with the Stitch N Bitch Handbook. That's what I used to make mine. :)
It looks beautiful! Especially for your very first project. Nice job!
When you're ready to learn how to do short rows, you can make the Lizard Ridge afghan from Knitty.com. That's what I've been making all those Kureyon blocks for.
PINK! I love it. It's so cute...you should start a business and make some money on the side :) bling bling!
Great job! Your first scarf looks beautiful and for a newbie knitter your tension looks really good.
Wow - I'm super impressed!! I always wanted to knit, but I failed horribly when I last tried. Your scarf is awesome - maybe it'll inspire me to try it again sometime!
Congratulations on your first FO! "FO" is knit-speak for "finished object."
