French word-of-the-day.

I receive a daily email which includes a new French word and then a sentence containing that new word. Today's word, kids, is..."debutante" (= beginner). The sentence (in English) is: The beginner will find that self-confidence and a sense of humor will be the best approach to speaking another language. So that's the key to success with French?

Yes... so long as the humor is directed at oneself for having the gall to attempt to speak French, in France. Then again, its likely no accident that the words gall and Gaul rhyme, mais oui?
