It's frickin' cold here

Darin and I had a nice, but busy weekend. On Saturday, we spent the entire day at IKEA Lyon. We drove his boss's minivan an hour and a half to Lyon to survive the crowds at IKEA. What chaos. We did a nice job of purchasing all our living room furniture and then some. This was the first time I've eaten at an IKEA and rather enjoyed the food. We thought it was pretty odd that the young girl in front of us had to stick her hand in the basket of rolls and squeeze all of them but then decided to grab a roll from another basket. Why?

Today is the celebration of Epiphany. The French who celebrate Jesus meeting the The Three Wise Men celebrate by eating this yummy flaky almond pie. Usually there are toys baked into the pie and then someone finds it and breaks a tooth or something. We had our first visitors today and they were kind in bringing us a pie. It was delicious. Luckily, they left out the toys. Good thing because our dental insurance hasn't started yet.

Did you know that the French call marijuana, "shit"? Our visitors shared that with me today. Love it. "Excuse me, do you have any shit I can smoke?"

I also recently discovered that my favorite store in Europe, called Zara, is in Annecy. Darin pretended to be excited with me when our visitors located it for us. Maybe it's good that I'm not wandering around Annecy with my own debit card...yet.

From my homework, I learned that the number 1999 translates to mille neuf cent quatre-vingt-dix-neuf. Imagine if Prince's song was translated into French. The song would be AT LEAST an hour long.
